Words of Wisdom With Jarett

Good morning, Poodles!

I am beyond excited to bring you this morning's post. If you'll think waaaaay back to our days of playing "What The Heck" you'll remember that two winners were chosen. One based on creativity, and the other based on accuracy.

Jarett won based on creativity (after today's post, that won't come as a surprise!) His punishment prize was a guest post on GM.

Today is the day for that post!

Without further ado, I bring you the ever disturbing confusing perplexing unique, Jarett!

Aloha! My name is Jarett!

First of all I thought I was gonna have to introduce myself more specifically, but due to Lindsay’s beautiful introduction of me, that is no longer necessary. There went my first idea for a blog (thanks a lot. Hahahaa! Just kidding…kinda.)

So Instead I’ve had to sit down to brainstorm and fire those more creative synapses I have floating around my mind. After much thought I’ve decided that since I plan to start my own blog named “Unpaved Road” my guest post should be semi-related to that.

I’ve never really had the easy road or chose to take the easy road in everything I have put my mind to doing, hence the name “Unpaved Road.” Along that path I’ve received a whole lot of advice and experience, so going along with that I’ve decided to share my own advice that I think will some day hopefully come in handy.

With that, I bring you some of the best advice you’ll ever receive.

  1. Always keep your friends close, and your enemy’s closer right? Wrong! You shouldn’t have enemies and I truly believe that! Yes, there are people in this world that you dislike from time to time but I always have to keep in mind that these people have their own perception of life and that differing opinions doesn’t make one right or wrong just makes us human. Thank God for this ability because if we all got along life would be too boring, uninteresting. Petty much like coloring a picture using only a brown and gray crayon! I can just image that picture…especially if you wanted to color a hot pink wildebeest swimming down a rainbow river. (I’m not even sure where that came from but just roll with me!)
  2. “Don’t sweat the petty things and don’t pet the sweaty things.” (Thank you Adam for that perspective it has truly changed my life!) There are plenty of things to worry about, and those daily stressors are enough to freak you out without sweating about things that have little importance in your life, such as pretty much all the crisis you hear on CNN, or other news reports that dramatically exaggerate events for ratings. Things such as traffic jams, the store being out of your favorite Starbucks coffee (Lindsay! hahahahah) and so on. Even with those dumb little stressors life throws at you it will still be ok and the sooner you can bounce back from events out of your control the better!!! Also don’t pet the sweaty thing that’s just gross! Haha! No seriously…gross!
  3. My final piece of advice is by far more serious than all the others. Sometimes in nature you come across dangerous animals that want to eat you for protein consumption which provides them life-giving calories, allowing them to have enough energy to live. So my advice is - when traveling in nature - always use the buddy system! Along with that buddy system always make sure you are more athletic and faster than your “buddy.” Why? It’s simple, really. You don’t have to be faster than your predator in nature, you simply have to be faster then the slowest prey in the wild! Come on guys, that’s not morbid…that nature! Hahaha! If you’re not sure it is not possible to outrun your hiking buddy then be sure to take the extra time and secretly fill your buddy’s pants with a meat source of some kind therefore increasing your odds of not being the first target.*

So there you have it! My advice to you all! I would defiantly not mind furthering you with my knowledge! If you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask! Believe it or not, although I think I’m humorous at times, I can turn the serious and thoughtful switch on...so please ask! (Plus, it’s good practice because I kinda think that will be the theme of my blog…if I can ever figure out how to set one!)

* FYI although a good theory I truly do not believe or practice that! so if you wanna go camping with me don’t think twice cause I would never go to such great lengths to save myself or put you at danger...nor do I condone practicing such theories.

I think Jarett has opened up a great door here. He wants to start "Unpaved Road" and we can give him some blog fodder. I would love it if you Poodles could post questions, inquiries, comments, ect. for Jarett so he's got some great material for his first post.

Ready? Set? Go!
